SET The Bar
JOCK
MC worked with SET The Bar and Benson First Fridays (BFF) Omaha as a Featured Artist in Pride First Friday 2025. SET and BFF supported MC in creating her first solo exhibition after graduating from undergrad, titled JOCK.
JOCK was a takeover of Omaha, Nebraska’s first women’s sports bar. MC created four interventions in the space with the goal of prompting patrons to consider the physicality and humanity of the athletes they were watching. The interventions included 2 existing works and 2 new installations. i use my bones too much played on two televisions alongside the bar’s regular sports broadcast. An adaptation of KNEES framed the entrances to the restaurant. The images began clear then became more pixelated or degraded the closer they were installed to the start of the dining area.
The 2 new installations both utilized athletic tape and the building’s architecture to construct site-specific works. The Tension Sculptures lived all over the space, occupying the bathrooms, booths, and corners. There is Something in There weathered outside on the patio for the entire exhibition, and was visible from the dining area as well as the street below.
